Pairing an SVT/810 and peavey 215

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone done this? Seen a craigslist ad for a peavey mark 3 head and 215 cab. Thought about picking them up and running the 215 and 810e with my 73' SVT(prolly for 2 ohm load). Bad idea, wouldn't hurt, would sound bad? Any input would be helpful. And what do those cabs handle in general. I know their are different model speaks and sizes but i imagine it's from the same era as the mark 3 head.

I bet that would sound killer. I could haul that in my Grand Caravan, too. I thought about bringing a larger rig every now & then. Not for the volume but for the sound.

I would just buy another 8-10. The Peavey 215 will have uneven Fz response that may make your low end sound a little weak compared to your mids and highs. The 215 was not a good design. It is too small to be effecient in low Fz. I had one for years and it sounded a little muddy down low.

Only use the 810 until you could get another 810

I vote YES. 2x15+8x10 is da setup.

(Carefull.. the 2x15 could be louder), I put a 1x15 TKO Combo at the side of my Ampeg 8x10... it was loud.

There were several different Peavey 215s - for example, the 215D-BW is actually a pretty good cab, and can be an outstanding cab with some Eminence drivers...

I think you might be referring to the shallow Peavey 215, which I agree is not a very good cab - but the deep ones are pretty good 215s, IMO...

I have the shallow Peavey 2x15. If it's some extra low end you're looking for, don't get it.

I do like mine however. I put some eminence basslites in it. It's got plenty enough low mids to get the job done.
