Paralleled outs on an amp

I have a Peavey Nitrobass 450 2ohm, 300 4ohm, and 170 8ohm head that I use with a Peavey 2x10 tvx that can handle 175 rms @ 4ohm. I'm wondering if it's possible to add a 15 under it to give it a bit more bottom, but the Peavey 1X15 tvx is 250 @ 8ohm. Is that even possible or would I blow something up and waste a bunch of money in the process?

So the 2 X 10 is a 4 ohm enclosure and the 1 X 15 is an 8 ohm cab? Should be listed on the back of each. Let us know.

Sweet, thanks. I've never understood ohms and watts. They will ever allude me.

Yes, you can do it since your amp is 2ohm stable. 4ohm + 8ohm = 2.67ohms. Close enough to get most of the 450w split evenly between each individual speaker.

2/3 to the 4ohm & 1/3 to the 8ohm? or would it be 50/50?

Even if it is 50/50 that still seems like it's be decent power to each yes? 225 watts to each is pretty near the butter zone for both cabs yeah?

It's 2/3 to 1/3 distribution, and I would guess the amp would make around 400 watts at a 2.67 ohm load. You'll be be fine.

Sorry to dredge this up again, but I'm still pretty much an idiot when it comes to this stuff.

I found out that the 115BVX comes in a 4ohm version. Would it be better to push a 2ohm (that is what I get from 2 4ohm cabs right?) load with more watts to my 15?

I would, since a 2x10 and a 1x15 are fairly equal in the ampunt of sound they produce. A matched pair, (2 4 ohm cabs) would divide the amp's power equally between both cabs. Yup, that's what I'd do.
