Parts Express speaker reconing delays?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone here used Parts Express's new speaker reconing service? I sent in an Eminence 3012HO about 22 days ago, and their system lists it only as "received" with no other action.

The model was on their list of speakers that they recone on their online quote system.

I have a message in to them requesting further status. It seems mine has fallen through the cracks.

Has anyone else here used their service, and what was your turn-around time?

They might not have had the cone kit in stock, and with a high selling model like the 3012HO Eminence might not have as well. But they should let you know what's going on. Post on their forum, they're a lot more likely to answer you there than here.

Call. I had good luck getting a person on the phone when I had them recone an Eminence-made BagEnd speaker.

They called me back today as well as e-mailed. Claim nothing is wrong with the speaker and are returning it. Suggested that I examine the cab and crossover for problems.

I'm telling you, that sucker buzzed something fierce and the cab sounded fine the moment I dropped the replacement in.

I sure hope I'm not getting a runaround simply because they don't have a kit for it . . . .

Sounds like you might have something wrong with your cabinet itself, like a crooked baffle that tweaks the frame when tightened down. Did it buzz after you took it out of the box and tested it?
