Passive vs. active input on amp

Sign in to disble this ad
My amp is a GK MB210 combo and the bass is an SR300 with active electronics but passive pickups. When the inputs are marked passive and active are they referring to passive/active electronics or passive/active pickups?.

Thanks!

whatever

they're referring to basses that have such hot output they need to be padded down some. doesn't matter how they get that way, quite honestly. anyway, just use the passive input. the active input is useless in 99.999% of cases.

I don't know about "useless"... But he's right that the only point of the input labeled "active" is that it turns down the level of your bass signal, to avoid distortion in the amp. Only useful if distortion is a problem. Nothing to do with active or passive really.
