Peavey 210 TX

Hey gang,

I need some help. I purchased a used Peavey 210 TX cab @ GC the other day. I wanted something for small gigs this winter, plus with a horn. I have a home made cabinet with 2 Eminence speakers, but no horn. I only paid $118.00 out the door for the cab @ GC.
I hooked my LMII amp up to the cab, and the first night it sounded great..........the next night, it sounded like crap. I'm hearing a distorting sound playing the "D" on the E string........10th frett.......and the same noise an octave up. When I had this happen to my Epifani cab (ul410-S1) it was a blown speaker. I feel this is the same situation on the Peavey.
My problem is it states the Peavey uses two 10" Kevlar impregnated woofers, with one phenolic dome horn tweeter.
The cab is solid............and most places would charge a $100.00 for a blank cap.
The cab is at 4 ohms.......my bass is a Nordy passive Vj4.

Any suggestions, help............part of me wants to take the cab back to GC & get a refund.........the other part is to get two new 10" drivers for the cab.

I've been playing for 26 years, so I know what a blown speaker is...........and yes, I did take the speakers out , checked the grill, all connections, etc...a-ok.

Thanks!

Any help would be appreciated.

definitely take it back to GC and reproduce the issue for them. i've never bought used gear from them, so i'm not sure if it's as-is or what...

I'm sure there is some sort of warranty. 30 days sounds about right. The cab is a nice cab, well built and deep. If you get $100 back for it, you probably won't run into a better deal.

If it were me, I'd take it to the store, explain the problem and say that I really like the cab. They may offer you a deal on some replacement speakers?

Billy, that's what I was thinking.

There is a 30 day return policy, just like buying new gear.

The cab was used, paid $109.00 plus tax, $118.00 out the door. That's why I really want to keep it.
