Peavey 410 TVX Mod

I bought this cab in like new condition from a friend for $100.It's the 4 ohm version.I use a laptop running IKM Ampeg SVX for my pre. I have a stereo power amp that can't be bridged.I could buy a new power amp but I'm adventurous. My thoughts were this:
1. 2 bottom speakers in series to a new jack for an 8 ohm load
2. 2 top speakers in series to a new jack for an 8 ohm load
3. hook the input to the crossover to one of the jacks thus utilizing the xover as a high pass to the horn. It's OK if one side of the amp sees a a different impedance.
What do you all think. Any other ideas?
Thanks
