Peavey 410tvx ex

Sign in to disble this ad
I was at the local music store today and I noticed they have a Peavey 410tvx ex 4 ohm with lower left (as if you are staring at the front) corner damage. The price is $260 as is. I need a rig by the end of this month and want to spend roughly $500; that would leave me $240 to buy a decent used head. I am completely new to this and am learning the ohm, watts, speaker size jargon.

I play stoner-rock and blues. Could anyone offer any feedback on how its performance is? Any info is appreciated.

It's a good cab, but very heavy.

I demoed it up against the Peavey Tour 410, and although I liked the Tour 410 better because it seemed to have brighter High's, the TVX will do fine. Search the Classifieds for some used heads. You can get great deals here.

Seems a little high for a cab with damage.

I've seen them go for cheaper with no damage.

I just searched some sites and I believe it was Peaveys site, $410. I figure $325 at a music store? $85 off because of a cosmetic tear?

I need to take a much better look and make sure the damage isnt so bad that the wood has an open rip. Im assuming I could lose tone with air escaping through it? If not, I feel $260 is reasonable.

It seems like a lot of people enjoy this cab with a firebass 700.

Any other opinions?

Your original post was not very clear.

Is it new or used ?

Also, you only said damaged corner - that could be alot of different things.

IF it is new, and IF it is only cosmetic tolex damage, then the price is good.

If the cab is not new, and the damage is more than just a tolex rip, then I stand by my original post.

I used to have one and I hated it. People told me it was just the peavey head I was using. But when I bought my mesa Powerhouse 1000 cab the Peavey amp sounded great through it. I would advise against the TVX cab... it's twice as large as pretty much every other 410 out there, and it also weighs like 200 pounds, on top of that it doesn't sound very good.

I have the older version of this cab, the 410TX. I think it sounds great with my Genz Benz GBE 600. But it is pretty heavy.

they're great cabs, i think the post from billy3000 is the first time i ever heard complaints on the sound of these.they can get very loud and low. the usual complaint is the weight 98lbs( not 200) but a set of casters does wonders

if the damage doesn't compromise the structure of the cab it's a decent price..you could get one cheaper used with no damage though.
