Peavey 410TX x2?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all, I have a lead on 2 410TX cabs with a Carvin DCM2000 power amp, and I currently play on a B2re. I have always been a Peavey fan for good, hardworking American made gear, but right now I'm looking for LOUD. Tone is important, but above all, I'm playing mathy metal in big crappy rooms, so cutting power is priority one. I know it's all subjective, but as a newbie to the amp world (recovering drummer), I'm looking for some volume validation I guess. As a reference point, my 250 watts into an 8 ohm 4x10 was NOT enough, if that tells you anything. Thanks!

the peavey cabs will be heavy (around 90lbs each) but probably sound pretty good. With that power amp you'll have more than enough power. You just need a good pre-amp. Maybe a Sansamp RBI or VT deluxe would work for you. I haven't had any Peavey gear in years but it always held up well when I did. If you can't hear yourselfwith this set-up you're most likely deaf.

I'll vouch for the Peavey cabs, I run a Peavey Tmax head with a TVX 4x10 (almost same cab, definately same speakers). Although the head only puts out about 250 watts at 8oms, I feel no need for more power, its plenty loud in my hard rock band

Decent cabs. Make sure you get casters or a nice dolly because they are heavy. Also there's a way to bypass the crossover which makes the speakers run full range, giving you a bit more midrange if you're interested.

I have a TX and a TXF (version before the TVX above). The only diff is the TX has slightly less mids but it's easy to compensate at your eq. Bottom end on both are fantastic. I've even used them as PA support with good results. I don't think anything out there can touch them at the thier typical price point. If these combined with that amp won't do the job, the job is too dangerous to be done!

wow... $50 when you get ready to sell one to me for $75 let me know VON! I am in jacksonville.

I have a peavey 410TX 8ohm. When I ran it with a GK Backline 600, it was not enough. When I ran it with a Yamaha PB1 ->Crown xls202 (600 bridged), soundguys always asked me to turn it down. It is way to loud. These things are 600 watt RMS so if you run enough wattage to them they sing.

Used they are going for around $150 in my market.

I had the same problem. It was maddening!! I went through NUMEROUS rigs, SVT, Mesa, Eden, Ampeg, GK, 8-10,115-410, 118-410, 2-15-210, you name it. I could hardly here myself-and get maybe ONE sound and I was LOUD!. You really want to hear yourself, a GK 2000RB with those PV 4-10s running Bridged into 4 ohms. My Mesa P1000 is in the barn now because I am playing in a blues band with guitarists using Fender Pro-Jrs (about the size of a breadbox), and I can use anything and get a great sound.
BTW, I don't even need ear protection we play so comfortably!

Those cabs go for $150-$200 each in my area. Most people want lighter cabs and will sell them off for a good price.

I used a pair of the 410TXs for 10 years and was always impressed at the tone and projection of the cabs. Heavy. Overbuilt. A bargain if you are comfortable toting 98lb cabs. The deal breaker was when I tried my first Aguilar GS112 along side my 410TX...the 47lb Aggie was as loud, as deep...and, dare I say, more musical than the Peavey. Shortly after...an order for multiple GS112s was placed...
