Peavey 810TX - opinions?

Sign in to disble this ad
Whats everyone's opinion on these?

It's a Ported 810, 400W and I'm lookin to score one off CL for ~$250.

I've been wanting an ampeg 810 for my metal band since we're gonna start playin shows and I wanted something more beefy than my Avatar B212, but how does the Peavey compare?

My concern is the porting, as I'm looking for a real midrangey sound (think sabbath/maiden where the bass is right up front). Does anyone have any experience??

I'm looking to run my MarkBass LMIII and my Squier VM P through it.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I have the 410tx and it is LOUD and I and I can dial almost any tone I want out of it.

For $250, i would not even be posting, i would be sending him an email.

Those are nice cabs, but I thought they are 700 watt ... If its older than about 1995 it might be the older design, which are not as impressive, but do have more mids than the modern sounding later ones.

Is your Avatar 212 an 8 ohm? If so, have you considered a an Avatar 410 8 ohm (used or new) cabinet and stacking this on top of your 212? I've used that with an SVT1000 and it worked nicely. I currenlty use two Avatar 410's as my 810, but staking a 410 on top of a 212 is a nice alternative that I found really cut through the mix.
