Peavey Basic 60
Hi, i didn't want to revive a thread.
Im trying to fix this amp, the speaker is fine (tested with another amp),
It has these inputs/outputs
lo in - hi in - pre amp out - power in.
When i plug the bass on the inputs, the amp at max volume, sounds like a notebook speaker on low volume distorted.
Connecting the bass to the power in sounds fine.
And if i plug together the pre amp out with the power in, and plug my bass on the inputs, it works fine, like when it was ok.
What could be the problem?
The pre amp out/power amp in jacks are corroded and need cleaning or replacing. You might try spraying some Deoxit into the jack.
Here's a thread from another forum with a good writeup on the switching jack corrosion.
There was no continuity, but after rasping with a tiny handfile between the contacts, the tester displayed ok, and it was solved.
Great, glad to hear that fixed it!
