Peavey Black Widow basket swap question

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an old Peavey 15" Black Widow bass speaker and cab. Not 100% sure how old, but guessing it was built between '77 and '80. This past weekend I blew the speaker at practice and I am wondering if a new Peavey replacement basket will work on my old Black Widow. Anyone know? Any help would be much appreciated.

Here are some pics:

The magnets on those older ones were the same, meaning you could re-basket it as an 8ohm or even change it to a 1505 model. Verify with peavey to be sure but that's how it used to work.

There are 4 generations of BW magnets in order from old to new, the black label spider logo, the round back, the rubber surround (late 80's to now), and the neo. I have never been able to make a newer basket work successfully with the older two magnet structures. The voice coil will rub.

Phone into service. There are cross reference options. The options are not well documented

Well, that's good to know. I guess most that I've had are what you "round back's". I have run across a couple with rubber around the magnet but haven't tried switching those out with anything.
