Peavey Combo 300 EQ Settings and Hollow Body Bass

I just purchased a Peavey Combo 300 Amp on an amazing trade in deal. Previously, I had a 30 watt Mega Amp, which served it's purpose but failed miserably when it came to actual gigging. I've never owned any real bass amp but find myself a little over whelmed with the diversity of sound and knob settings. I've recently began jamming with a 60's era Beatles based band and have two hollow body Hofner type guitars (one is an Epiphone Viola and the other is an Aria 1420 Violin bass from late 1960's/early 70's. I know this is not the ideal amp for this setting but find it is a good step in the right direction as compared to the 30 watt Mega Amp. The challenge is that I have no idea what to set the 8 band equalizer at to maximize the Beatles Hofner sound. I've fooled around with the settings for a few hours but got nowhere. Adding to the confusion is the duel low and high gain knobs. Anyone have any suggestions? I found the manual on Peavey's site but find the settings they suggest for Rock, Funk, and Country to not be adequate for the bass. I also have a Zoom B1 effects peddle. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated! |
