The Firebass 700 delivers, but considering a lighter amp...

Just encountered this thread, though 6 years too late, oh well. I'm a gigging musician and have used a Peavey Firebass 700 for nearly 4 years. Only had 1 problem with it (this year, 2012--the circuit board cracked, the amp went dead--had to have it replaced), and fortunately Peavey still had the necessary parts despite this model having been discontinued long ago. I play it through a Peavey Tour 2x10 and SWR WorkingPro 1X15 cab (4 ohms each), and it delivers. I -play it with a Line6 Pod X3Live. In all the venues I've worked, it has only clipped at one place (still don't know why)--this was an outside stage at a motorcycle club's clubhouse. It is, however, definitely a weighty beast...I am at last considering switching over to a Carvin BX1500 with cabs...the BX1500 only weighs about 14 pounds...

Pic background shows the left side of the Firebass and the 2 cabs behind me.

I kind of want a go with one of these again, now I have a much better grasp of tone control and decent cabs. Its probably heavier than my valve head still though.

I had one and really liked it. Although i didn't like that much with my ampeg cl 8x10. It was a little too tight tone wise with that cab. On my ported 4x10's it was much better. Had a great growl to the amp. The only reason I sold it, was to have more head room. I went with a Carvin bx1200 and have been pleased.
