Peavey Firebass 700 clipping question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I recently bought a Peavey Firebass 700. I am running it through an Acoustic b410 and an Acoustic b115, and have been having problems with clipping with the head turned only to about half pregain and half volume. The two cabs are 8ohms each, which would made 4 ohms total when used together. The head is 2 ohms and according to the owners manual should put about 495 watts into 4 ohms. The total wattage on the cabs is 615 watts.

Any thoughts on why clipping would be an issue at only half volume?

Thanks!

Did you set the preamp gain to just before clipping and boost the master/post gain as needed?

Are you sure it's clipping or are you talking about the DDT light? It flashes all the time,so unless you're wringing it out with extreme EQ settings I wouldn't worry about it. Those things are tanks.

No kidding they're like tanks. My old 100w Century Bass head would be ear splittingly loud through that rig. Something has to be wrong because I think those cabs would fart before the head runs out of juice.
