I have both cabs and the avatar is by far a much better sounding and constructed cab. I hated the sound of the speakers in the peavey and changed them to eminence b810's which improved the sound but the avatar still sounds much better. The peavey is built from mdf while the avatar uses baltic birch plywood. The avatar also uses eminence deltalight 2510 neo speakers which to buy seperately are $190 each. The avatar might be $200 more than the peavey but is well worth it in my opinion.

MtJ,
Go to the various brand-name, high-dollar bass cabinet manufacturer's web-sites. Most will tell what speakers and horns, wood, tuff rug/tolex coverings, ect., ect. are used in their bass cabinets manufacture.
Now check Avatar's web-site, www.avatarspeakers.com, their using the same spec components, (and in many cases "better" componets), as the brand-names. Avatar uses voidless Baltic birch plywood in a front ported cabinet, 3mm coverings, Foster horns, Eminence's "top of the line", cast frame, Neo drivers, ect., ect., ect.
Biggest difference is, the Avatar's will cost roughfully half what the brand names sell for because Avatar doesn't maintain a store net-work, (no middle man mark-up).

The draw back of Avatar...their mail order only, you can't try before you buy.

I replaced my heavy/hard to move Ed*n cabinets with two Avatar Neo 210 cabinets...
Haven't regretted the switch for a second!

Haven’t heard the new Headliner cabs but I like the look of the new headliner amp. They delayed its release however so I bought the Ampeg PF-350.
That being said you can’t go wrong with the Avatar 410 cab. Very solid cab for a great price. I would consider the Headliner amp (with its built-in overdrive/distortion circuit) and drop it on the Avatar cab, the 4 ohm version. Metal City. If you don't like the Headliner amp, consider a GK 700rbII, a great hard rock, metal head.
