Peavey Kilobass speaker question

Sign in to disble this ad
ok i've done some searching here,,could sit all day,my question is>

i just bought a Kilobass head, when it arrives MAY i plug it in to one Black Widow 15/4 ohm speaker for a test run and not worry about any problems?,,you know how it is,i'll keep it under the radar

also a second question is how small can i go?

bought to bridge the gap between now and when i can afford an Ampeg 7PRO,i realise i can bridge it and get a 1000 watts but i'm thinking one channel and 500 with a 4X10 cab is plenty(for now, just havent bought a cab to go with it yet.

EDIT>--)> can't get the Peavey site to open up(today)

also i'd like to be able to do a 2x10 for jamming with buddys who for whatever reason like motion sensor lighting at their shacks,,ever stumble down a set of stairs with a combo amp in the dark?

If I understand your question, yes, you can use any spkr cab with any amp, providing you stay within the amps minimum impedance. ANY amp can blow ANY spkr, so, as with any pairing, care should be taken so as not to strain the spkr.

ok thanks

havent been able to open the `archived manuals' section of the Peavey site all day long,in fact the homepage even looks dif. they must be updating after NAMM

thought i'd get it today(the head),,when reading about this head here last week someone made mention about ohms and don't do this(or that) so hopefully i'll get more info tomorrow so i can at least do a shakedown monday with a 15 BW i have as an extension cab(4ohms are in line for one channel/500watt specs, just couldn't find max watt rating for that speak today so that was the issue i was concerned with, cranking it to test it and(then) finding out the BW was a 300 watt speaker

like an electric motor=stay within the rating and you're fine,overload and meltdown,like me(long day),thanks again= good night

You can usually hear it if a speaker is in danger.
Just go easy on the gain until you're sure everything is playing together nicely.
