Peavey Mark amps

This is not a real question post or anything. Just me being happy and showing off my recent purchase(s)

Yesterday i managed to pick up a working Mark IV, broken Mark III and an old 1x15.

I am stoked on this set up, cant wait to get the mark III working to use as a pa head or a backup amp to my mark IV.

i really like old 70s/80s peavey gear. now all i need's a t-40

Nice.

I've always been able to pull a good sound out of those heads. They're also one of the loudest you'll ever hear for what they're rated at.

Guy I know who's home studio we used to use on occasion always had a Mark head, a Peavey 215 and some Yamaha bass always there. Big, ballsy yet clear sound all they way down to a beautiful low B.

Congrats on the score. Good heads; tons of EQ options, and decent power. Heavy, of course.

As you probably know from the distinctive appearance, the 15 is a Scorpion. I seem to recall that the older Scorpions were more full-range speakers, and didn't have a lot of excursion; newer ones were more of a woofer. But I'm not sure of that, and if true, don't know when that changed... maybe when they came out with the Scorpion Plus.

thanks dude! I'm really excited on this, haven't stopped playing it all day.

I am aware it is a scorpion. I had older peavey 4x12 when i played more guitar with scorpions in it. Definitely a more full range speaker, but its a nice for with the mark IV. I am looking for another now.

the weight isnt a big deal, my last amp which i sadly sold a year or os ago was a carvin pro bass and it weighed a bit more than my mark.

I've got a broken Mark IV sitting under my stairs that's just waiting for a few extra bucks to head to the tech. Back when it was working I loved using the blended input and dialing in a f'ing crazy distortion on one channel, and a deep clean on the other. Never gigged with it, but I'd love to try it through my Emperor 2x15 some day.

i like that without a footswitch the different channels blend, makes for one interesting map and some cool tones.

Nice pickup. I picked up a Mark VIII head along with a BW-115 & 210TVX a few months back. So far, I really like them all. I seem to like most things with a Peavey logo.

Best of luck.

Congrats, pal. A Mark IV and two of those 115 Scorpion cabs were my first bass rig when I switched over to electric bass in '88. Indestructible and loud. Great tone, too, IMO. The weight is what got me to buying other stuff, but I wish I still had it all.

In the late 80's, I used a Mark IV with a Peavey 1516 cabinet which contained a 15" BW and 2- 8" drivers above it. Nice set up. I got a great rock tone with that rig playing a Peavey Foundation S Bass w/ PJ pick-ups.

I love old Peavey gear! This is the Mark IV's grandpappy. I scored it locally for a CL steal, redid the cab in Duratex, and it now resides in the off-site rehearsal room.

Coincidentally, this is the same exact amp that I started on in high school in the late 70's. I've come full circle! I also picked up an old 260C Bass combo with a BW as a garage back-up...

Picking mine up tomorrow!!

I bought mine for $100 + shipping on the bay 3 years ago. Played for a while but it was buzzing and fading and the tolex was trashed. I recovered it last week and dropped it off with a tech. I get to pick it up tomorrow!!!

There is nothing like a clean fresh amp to jam on.

The MKIV will go back to its place on a pair of Peavey 1x15s and the Behringer back up will be going back to its shelf to collect dust.

I had that same setup in the 70's. A classic!

Over the past month or so I've swapped out my amps and picked up:

- Max 450 head
- TVX 410
- BVX 115
- TVX 210

All US made. Comparatively cheap. Really happy so far. I've rolled through a lot of low-mid range gear over the past few years. This is the best sounding setup I've had.

My back isn't happy though :-)
