This is not a real question post or anything. Just me being happy and showing off my recent purchase(s)
Yesterday i managed to pick up a working Mark IV, broken Mark III and an old 1x15.
I am stoked on this set up, cant wait to get the mark III working to use as a pa head or a backup amp to my mark IV.
i really like old 70s/80s peavey gear. now all i need's a t-40

I've always been able to pull a good sound out of those heads. They're also one of the loudest you'll ever hear for what they're rated at.
Guy I know who's home studio we used to use on occasion always had a Mark head, a Peavey 215 and some Yamaha bass always there. Big, ballsy yet clear sound all they way down to a beautiful low B. |

As you probably know from the distinctive appearance, the 15 is a Scorpion. I seem to recall that the older Scorpions were more full-range speakers, and didn't have a lot of excursion; newer ones were more of a woofer. But I'm not sure of that, and if true, don't know when that changed... maybe when they came out with the Scorpion Plus. |

I am aware it is a scorpion. I had older peavey 4x12 when i played more guitar with scorpions in it. Definitely a more full range speaker, but its a nice for with the mark IV. I am looking for another now.
the weight isnt a big deal, my last amp which i sadly sold a year or os ago was a carvin pro bass and it weighed a bit more than my mark.

Back when it was working I loved using the blended input and dialing in a f'ing crazy distortion on one channel, and a deep clean on the other. Never gigged with it, but I'd love to try it through my Emperor 2x15 some day. |

i like that without a footswitch the different channels blend, makes for one interesting map and some cool tones.

Best of luck.

Indestructible and loud. Great tone, too, IMO. The weight is what got me to buying other stuff, but I wish I still had it all.

Coincidentally, this is the same exact amp that I started on in high school in the late 70's. I've come full circle! I also picked up an old 260C Bass combo with a BW as a garage back-up... |

Played for a while but it was buzzing and fading and the tolex was trashed. I recovered it last week and dropped it off with a tech. I get to pick it up tomorrow!!!

- Max 450 head
- TVX 410
- BVX 115
- TVX 210
All US made. Comparatively cheap. Really happy so far. I've rolled through a lot of low-mid range gear over the past few years. This is the best sounding setup I've had.
My back isn't happy though :-) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
