Also, if you own/owned one what cab are you using/used with it? |

Remember these are to be judged in a band mix.. not wanking in a bedroom...
Much of the new stuff you'd compare it to sounds great in a store.. doesn't mix with a band.

At the prices they currently sell for, they're a tremendous deal. I'd recommend one to a budget-conscious bassist that needs some serious thump any day.

| | | I bought my Peavey MarkVI head and a Peavey 410tx cab brand new some 15/20? years ago,
and gig out with it and an even older Peavey 1x18 cab pretty regularly in various bands to this day.
I got my moneys worth out of it a long time ago. It's never ever broke down, a work horse for sure.
It's loud (especially with 2 cabs) with lots of headroom (my pre and post volumes never need to go above 2 to 4)
and clean sounding with good tone shaping options.
On the down side this head is HEEAAVVYY!!!, but we're big bass players and we can take it.
Not to sure about what it's worth today, sorry.

| | | | Here's another vote for the Mark VI - I've owned two of them, besides Mark III, IV, VIII, and Firebass 700s, and in a band setting, the Mark VI worked the best out of all of them... Run it with one or two 4 ohm cabs, and it'll be plenty loud enough, too... For $150, they're a great bargain in a gig-worthy head...

| | | | Got my Mark VI with a 1516 cab for $250 a few years ago, thought it was a good deal.
To echo others, heavy and loud. Added a Goliath II Jr 2x10 (also 4 ohm) and it all sounds great.
Enjoy!

now i wanna know if i could run it with the head , 2x10 behringer cab and a 4x10 also? or is that to much for the head to power |

| | | | As long as your total ohmage doesn't go below 2 ohms, it will work fine. You could run four(!!!!) eight ohm cabinets for that wall of sound look...
Enjoy!

| | | Well, here I am ! A french guy using Peavey MARK VI amp with a 18' cabinet.
I often played with Laney or Peavey amps from the 90's, I really appreciate that they let the sound from the bass safe and clean. I found my actual amp less than a year ago, just when I needed more power (I always had less than 200W amps). Built in 1993 and it never failed until now.
I know that with 2 cabs I'll have 400W but, I love my 18' sound, and that's enough for the moment, no problems, the band and the crowed can hear me... and I never ever cranked it. I have good Seymour Duncan on my bass, well definite sound and loud lows from the 18' cab. Funny thing that there are 2 faces, I have a black one and there's also a blue MARK VI model, do you know why ?
