Peavey Mark VIII

Need some advice. I have the chance to pick up a Peavey Mark VIII for under $150. First, does anyone have any experience with this head? Second, in checking the manual on Peavey's web site it shows it is rated at 350w@4 ohms & 600w@2 ohms. If I get this head what type of 4 ohm cabs would you recommend since I will need two 4ohm ones to get 600w out of the head

Thanks

A. If it's 150 or less and it works, it's worth it.

B. Forget about "getting the most watts". It's sn excersise in futility. More speakers will always get you louder than more watts do. All those old peavey amps could run all night at 2 ohms. It allows piling on as many speakers as you'd need.

$150?
Jump on it!

I've owned and used one of these for over 20 years, only recently upgrading to a late model amp. (Still got the Peavey, will never part with it.)

All mine's had in 20 years is a single service to clean it out and check all the connections etc.

I've run all sorts of combinations of resistence ratings (in cabs) from 2 to 8ohm.

Absolutely bullet proof and they sound great too, once you sort your EQ settings out to suit the cab/s and room.

I have one too! Built in chorus and sounds awesome! I play it through Peavey 410 cabs and an Ampeg 810. I'm always getting told how good it sounds! For that price, don't pass it up! You'll love it!
