Peavey Max 112 'A' string - amp vibration noise?

Sign in to disble this ad
I managed to get a new Peavey Max 112 for $300 AUD (down from $400) in conjunction with my new SR400QM, however I've noticed this odd rattle that only happens when I play an A (must be the frequency, it's the same regardless of fret position)

Doesn't happen with any other note, so I'm slightly stumped - could it be something loose within the casing that a simple bit of felt stopper-ing would fix?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

have you changed strings lately? Check the wraps around the post on the tuner for the A string. Sometimes if the break of the string, just after the nut and before the tuner, isn't enough, you'll get a funny sound.

The strings are brand new Elixirs (I only got my bass + amp last weekend) so they're fine, the noise is definitely coming from the amp, sounds like there's something rattling around in there somewhere - contemplating setting the screwdriver on it and testing it further to see where the damn rattle is coming from. Slightly annoying as I can't really turn my amp past 3 without it rattling
