Peavey Max 700 Bass Amp Combo Amp

don't know much about this set up and neither does the owner. it seems like a good deal. i asked the seller to tell me more about the cab and all he could tell me was that it was matched with the head - whatever that means. so, as usual, i turn to you in talkbass land - can anybody tell me more about this combo - more specifically, what cab is pictured. is it the 4ohm tvx?

thanks in advance for your input.

Yup. 300 bucks. Jump on it. It will be loud and clean, and heavy to load. But....... That is definately a 4-10 TVX. Probably 4 ohm. Either way, for 300 bucks, it's a steal.

If you're looking for a rig, get it now. Assuming it all is working good that's great deal. Loud, quality amp and enough cab for most any gig for $300? Not gonna get a better deal. Those are 2ohm heads, you could still chain another cab to it if you wanted to.

I don't know the seller or anything like that, just sayin'.

thanks for the input. i will text the seller to see if it's still available. how old is this unit? i could only find them used in a google search with mf/gc reporting back that these are no longer available or discontinued.

Go to the support section of Peavey's site. The archived owners manuals go way back. I think the MAX series is like 90's/2000's.

do you think that this will be louder than my bassman 50 / 2x15? i consider the amp loud and clean, but the cabinet sux. really boomy on the low notes.

i don't gig, just living room jams with the buds. want more punch and less boom.

thanks.

Way louder if you want it to be. I love the bassman but this thing will just plain outdo it. More eq to dial out boom, dial in punch, etc. too.

That is a great deal. I have one of those cabs and it is a real work horse.

sent a text to the seller. told him that i want to sell my sf bassman 2x15 before i bought his. he said that he'd hold it till monday.

what is the size of this in relation to my current rig? i hate hauling that around too. maybe i can find a decent 210 and use that as my my travel cab and when the buds come to my house i can blow em away with my 410 - better yet - 610!

for three hundred - how could i go wrong?

You can't go wrong. Only a young guy with a strong back will haul around a 2-15.

Bigger is not always better. Believe an old man who can't load cabs any more. Shoot, I have a 4-10 TVX that has been collecting dust for 4 years. I use 2 112 neo cabs that will blow the 410 away....but, they are expensive. Anyway. Go for the Peavey.

It's a good deal, one of those where you can get a total gig rig for cheap. Were I you, I'd just pick it up.

There is no location in your profile....where is this bassman50?

The Peavey Max700 is 50 lbs of heaven for me anyway...!

Try out the internal crossover as well, as it really shines with another small amp.

the seller must've been using a pic he found on the internet. when i looked at it again, the text claimed that the cabinet was a 1x15, but the pic, as you guys had plainly seen, was the 4x10. i really wanted the 4x10. when i text the guy, he text me back thanking me and telling me he fixed the pic. now the ad sports some stock pics.

my question to you...

is this still a good deal?

i am very disappointed that it wasn't the 4x10.

thanks again for your input.

az

p.s. - i put my bassman rig on craigslist. what should i be asking now-a-days for one of these setups.

what i am afraid of is that the 115 will be boomy and not punchy.

would any of you characterize the 115 in this manner?

The TVX 15" cab is heavy,I own one,but it sounds damn good.Price for the rig is reasonable and worth going for. Cab is not "boomy"but warm and punchy, the porting makes a big difference. Not as punchy as a 4x10,but that's a bit difficult to compare 15" of speaker surface to 40".

Probably not boomy. Punchy? The meaning varies so widely that I consider the term useless. If it's a Black Widow I'd expect it to be fairly bright.

Not a great deal, but an OK deal if it meets your needs and you don't might the weight. The 115 is probably worth less than the 410, but I'd rather have the 115 than the 410 because it's lighter, and has better dispersion. That head can easily drive another cab if that isn't loud enough.
