Peavey series 300 Amp question

Sign in to disble this ad
I use a old Peavey 300 series amp with a matching peavey 2-15" bottom. I just bought a Traben Array limited bass with active pickups, since my amp has no setting for active pickups, will it hurt my amp using this guitar or will it just be noisy as hell? i also use a line 6 bass pod if that makes a difference.

i forgot to ask this also. every amp of this model i have seen does not look like mine, this one has two separate sides on the front, with a high and low input jack on each side for a total of 4,it also has on one side, a volume control, bass, treble, mode, spectrum controls.
on the other side it just has a volume, middle, bass and treble control.it also says on the back that it is 230 watts. i thought these were only 150 watt, does it have 2 separate amps in it? and does anyone know about what year this amp was produced.i bought it at a music shop and the amp looks and works like new.

I had a quick look on Peavey's website for archived manuals for the 300 series.
All I can find is the "300 Series Power Amplifier/Equalizer" manual.

You can search for archived manuals here:
Peavey.com

You may want to shoot Peavey CS an email and ask them your question and request any literature they might have on your amp.
Here's their email address: customerservice@peavey.com

The Peavey site also has a link to the Peavey Forum...a bunch of Peavey-centric folks hang out there and do their best (in most cases) to try and help:
• Index page

Good luck.

300 series sounds like a power amp designation. Peavey used the same power sections on multiple products, so the power modules were labeled separately on the back. Don't know if that's still the practice.

That'd be an old amp. If you've got inputs labeled high and low, the low input is usually -6dB, so that'd be the one for a hot signal. But active pickups are not always hotter than passives, so you might want to try both.
