Peavey TKO 80 vs Fender Bassman TV 12

Sign in to disble this ad
hi everyone. so, i've been playing bass for awhile on borrowed equipment (i'm primarily a guitarist) and now i want to get some of my own.

i checked my local craigslist, and the two best deals i found were a Peavey TKO 80 for $80 and a Fender Bassman TV 12 for $250.

if i buy the Peavey, i will probably also get a tech 21 sansamp VT bass pedal to go with it, which will give it more character. that brings the cost of the Peavey up to about $250 as well.

so, what do you think i should get?

oh, and is the VT bass pedal any good? would it also go well with the Bassman or would that just be pointless.

notes:

1. i know there are many different kinds of TKO 80's out there, the one im looking at has a 12 inch speaker, 3 knob eq, and pre/post gain knobs. it does not have the graphic eq with slider switches.

2. I'm probably gonna buy a Fender or Squier with passive P or J bass pickups (or even both), and then upgrade them to Lollars.

3. i dont like Metal, Hard Rock, or country, but every other kind of music is fair game. i play everything from Muddy Waters to Coldplay to the Red Hot Chili Peppers

thanks for your help
