peavey tnt crossover

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently bought a used Peavey tnt 115s. Have been told and read on talkbass that to add to my sound buying a 410 would give a greater dynamic. So I found a hartke 410 on Craigslist. Went to check it out plugged into the low and high outputs. And nothing. zero. Nada. Tested the 410 with the dudes Peavey head. Cabinet works fine. Just nothing out my outputs. Anybody have a clue?

Thanks
Rick

You're talking about the crossover section on the front panel? I'm pretty sure those are preamp level outs, not poweramp level outs. So you shouldn't expect them to work with an extension cabinet. Actually I don't think that amp has an extension cabinet jack.

Here's the way I understand Peavey's Crossover section:
The Crossover section is for Bi-amping. From the Crossover section of your 115, you would need to add a head/cab or another combo. You can then adjust the Frequency knob to a frequency crossover point of the 115 - meaning that the 2nd amp would be used to reproduce the frequencies below that crossover point.

On my TNT130, I did the following:
(Crossover section) "High Out" <-patch cable-> (Patch section) "Pwr Amp" - In
(Crossover section) "Low Out" ---------> Combo Amp Input
(Crossover section) - set Frequency knob to crossover frequency

I don't know if your TNT115 has the same configuration, but I thought I'd let you know how I use it. Someone here with more experience might be able to give you better advice or explain it better.

Good luck.

Ok the thought had not occured to me that it was a preamp out. But guess that makes Denver why it didn't work. Second question though and why I was confused its a 500 watt combo. And the schematic on back says 160 watt to the 15. So can someone explain where the lost watts are ? Guess I am proving I am a gear rookie......

The newer "Tour Series" TNT 115 is a 600W combo.
The older TNT 115 is a 150W (into 4Ohms) combo.
