Peavey Tour 215 cabinet. Anyone have one?

I just purchased a Peavey VB-2 and I am curious about adding it to the Peavey Tour 215 cabinet for matching purposes and because I like 15" speakers the best for the sound I'm going for.

Does anyone have one and feel like commenting on its "+ and -"?

I have an Ampeg 810e that I will be using the vb-2 with but I would still like to consider the Peavey 215. Of course...I'd love to grab a Bergantino NV215 but my wife would kill me. She doesn't recognize bass gear but she does recognize $$$ signs.

I'm sure it would be a good match-up. Tube amps and 15" spkrs are a great set up.

I used to have a Mesa 215 but stupidly sold it so I'm left wanting that 2x15 sound for larger shows.

I used to have a 2x15 cab (not Peavy) but now when I want 15s I use two 1x15 Ampegs. Easier to move two smaller cabs than the one biggin!

i have never used the cab youre looking at, but do have an older (waaayy older) peavey 215. i heard it a few times at shows when it had its stock speakers and it sounded good. when i got a hold of it, i reloaded it with kappalites 3015s. i love this cab. excellent sound and incredible durability. i also use a peavey nitrobass head about 5 years old and is also built to withstand the apocalypse. i have also used a much older peavey deltabass head, same deal.

bottom line is peavey is middle of the road stuff that will sound good and will stand the test of time. best bang for your buck IMO.

I just went and picked up my NIB VB-2 from the Guitar Center. They have those Tour cabs on close out right now, so you may want to check 'em out ASAP.

I picked up a 410 ($299) last week, and added a 115 with casters today ($199). I figure that 215 has to going for around $399 if you can find one.

I can't get into tone because I'm not going to be able to push either of them for about a week, but they appear to be well made cabs, and to me they are really lite.

That's the best I can do.

Cool. I'll give my GC a call or talk to them tomorrow when I go to pick up my VB-2 and see what the Tour 215 costs. It would be super cool to have the Tour 215 and also have my Ampeg 810e for my dummer...I mean drummer.

MN Bass...thanks for the vid. I love that he gives it a go for all of 6 seconds...but I love the way it looks. Very sleek and connected.

Yeah, little less yapping and more playing would have been nice, I can't wait to get my head either friday or monday.. what a steal $400 NIB...I am interested on how well it will push my 8x10..

It is going to push your Ampeg and my Ampeg just fine. 225 tube watts...no problem.

I'm excited primarily because I've never had an amp before with EL34s and the tone seems to be inbetween a really colored tube head like the Ampeg SVT and a less-colored Eden VT300 or Aguilar. Those are my initial thoughts...

Would a VB-2 keep up with two tube halfstacks?

Probably not if they cranked.

The Tour 115 (not tested the 215) sounded pretty nice with a 4-string to me, but the bottom end farts out pretty easily, particularly with drop D. Not sure I would recommend it if you're using a high power head or lot of bass, but it would sound great with a 4-banger with a VB-2/3 imho. It's not going to soak a big solid state head with a ton of bass though. Still an excellent quality cabinet.

Ah not good, my band plays in Drop C and one of the stacks is cranked (old 50 watt marshall).

Oh well.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with a Peavey 2-15" cabinet----good solid bass response, without sounding muddy or distorted.....I've owned my Peavey rig (Mark IV head, 330w RMS, and a 2-15" cabinet) since 1982!! Yeah, I'm a bit of an old timer....nothing wrong with the 810's, but I find you get a little more punch with the 215.....anyway, that's my 2 cents.....
