Peavey Tour 2x15

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in the market for a new can since I sold my Ampeg 8/10. It was just too big for my car. I have been looking at maybe a 2x15? I have read reviews of old Peavey 2x15's and they seen solid as heck and all that. Has anyone tried or heard the new ones ? The Peavey dealer in my town doesn't have one in stock and I'd have to order it to actually hear it. Thanks for the help.

I don't think they make them anymore, but you could always ask!

I've always wanted to have one of these powered by a tour 450.
but could never find one!

I hear great stuff about the Peavey 2x15 cabs, shouldn't be any worries there. A lot of the other guys here feel that the 2x15 is a classic configuration that doesn't get its just credit. My Kasino 2x15 is boss, but if your Peavey isn't doing it for you then consider a speaker change...made a world of difference for my 2x15s.

Really! Damn! I see them on the Peavey web site. I'm gonna ask today. If they don't make them anymore it will try to find a used one, old or new. Thanks for the response.

They don't seem to make or at least list on their site the Tour 2x15, however they still make and list a 2x15 in their Pro Series line. As for the cab itself, I never played a Peavey cab let alone a 2x15, but I too have heard a lot of good things about them. Built solid, soild performance and all at budget prices. I do however currently use the Peavey Tour 450 bass amp and I love it! I can get a lot of great tones from it and great power. More important It has never let me down, broke, or needed service. Peavey is really an often overlooked brand for quaility products for reasonable prices.

I was talking about this cab. (The tour 215 with the neo drivers and metal grill) not the one currently offered.
I'm not sure if they are available either! Peavey like to release products way ahead of when they are actually built on a large scale.

Even though a 215 cabinet cannot match the sheer volume of an 810 cabinet, many old 215s do, or can be made to sound very good.
Case in point: my highly modified Peavey 215. This old cab has been stripped of its origional tolex and recovered with Duratex. The interior has been lined with 1 1/2 foam (available at WalMart for around $11). The top speaker is a 8 ohm Black widow, the bottom is a JBL K140. So a 4ohm cabinet can accept the full 200 watts from the GKMB200. I also installed skid rails on the back of the cabinet, for easy loading, and to top it off, installed a guitar hanger on the side.
To VanillaThunda: I also own one of those old Kasino 200 amps and still love it to this day.

I called the local dealer and confirmed that it's the VB 215 that is offered now. The price I was given was pretty steep, but maybe by looking around I could find a better deal. He told me $899. I wish there were some used ones around.
