Peavey Tour 450 or 700?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've decided to buy one of these amps along with a 4x10 cab. Which one should I get? I will also probably get an 8x10 cabinet in a few years, so maybe I should get the 700 watt amp.

Basically what I want to know is - Can the Tour 700 still be used with a 4x10 cab? or are they meant for 8x10's only?

Please forgive me for my noob questions!

I don't know too many details on those amps or cabs, but yes you can use the 700 with a 4x10, or the 450 with a 8x10. How loud do you need to be? 450 watts through a 4 ohm 8x10 would probably way louder than any gig id ever play. Then again im looking at a 500 watt GK head, mostly because its 4lbs.

If you are buying used, there shouldn't be much difference in price. If you are buying new, there is only about $80 difference in price.

Yeah, go with the bigger one. I'd rather have the power and not need it that need the power and not have it.

BTW: I have a Max700, and it is LOUD.

Definitely get the bigger amp, always good to have more headroom.

Thanks for the input everyone, I went with the Tour 700. Looks like one of the best amps in it's price range.
