Peavey Tour 450 with Avatar Neo 4x10

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm working the trade/upgrade route to build my rig. I just moved from an Ashdown Mag 300 to a Peavey Tour 450 to drive my 8ohm Avatar 4x10 (rated at 1000w). I think I'm prob driving about 300 some watts thru the cab ( to me it makes an already good sound better). I wanted some opinions on whether adding another 8ohm cab (maybe a 15) would refine my sound more as that would take me to 4 ohms and allow me to use the full 450. I play in a rock cover band that plays in bars and a few outdoor gigs. We usually end up xlr-ing into the PA with my amp.

Do not get a 15. Bad idea to mix match speaker sizes unless you are running a 3 way cab.

Get another Avatar 410 at 4 ohm if you are really wanting to push it with one cab, or you could get another 410 at 8ohm and run both. Seriously though, that Avatar at 300 watts should be plenty for what you are doing. I would even say sell the 410 and get two Avatar 210 cabs at 8ohm and stack them vertical. You mind would be blown how 410's up and down beat the 410 square box.

Sell the 410 and get a TB153 at 4 ohms while they last. He has NEO 4 ohm TB153's built and ready to ship.

Many reasons. Not that it won't sound ok but you will feeding that 210 most of your wattage and you won't be pushing the 410 as hard.

another +1
i used to run a peavey tour 450 thro a warwick 2 x 10 and a peavey 1 x15... pants!!, the 2 x10 sounded better on its own, louder but thinner when combined with the peavey, if you want to work with what you have get another avatar 4 x 10.............or ... ditch the cab and go fEARful, but thats another story
