PEAVEY TOUR 750 ARE THE HARTKE LH1000

My son David is in a band, and they are getting pretty good. Anyway David called, and told me the bass players Workingman combo quit I guess. They latch onto a old 810, I think he said SWR he said it was beat up but work great. Anyway he gets payed in a couple of weeks, and he can pickup either one of these amps at a decent price. Also they are both new I guess are close. I told him to go play them, but I would just like to hear what you guys have to say. I've heard about the clipping problem Peavey had.

I've owned the Peavey Tour 450 and it was a killer amp, I just kind of grew out of it. I currently own the Hartke LH500 and am incredibly happy with it. Simple controls, a tweak here and there and you're off running. I'd personally recommend the Hartke for simplicity alone and tone.

I'm currently debating on stepping up to the LH1000.

Hope this little tid bit helped.

Cheers.

I have put the LH1000 though its paces and A/B'd to what some would consider the best heads on the market today. There's lots of good choices though.
I cannot speak for reliability yet, but Larry Hartke will take care of you.
Well....the LH1000 sounds great. Possibly my favorite bass head to date. Less tweak and feature, but serious tone. Maybe not the most dynamic of all, but good heft, punch and push...Raw power..
Like I said, its a tough head to beat tone-wise at any price point.

....I have no experience with the Tour 750 yet......

Good luck!

hartke amps are very reliable. that I know. larry stands behind his product, and will fix any problems. I never played a the peavey when I was amp shopping. I chose the ampeg B2RE over everything in that price range. Harkte no frills layout can be a blessing for pedal users, or maybe a POD. Peavey stuff is also no slouch. Tough as nails, good rock sounds. Also reliable. Some have said the tour models have clipping problems. Maybe search TB for some info on that. My hartke 3000 head is 9 or 10 years old, still works like the day I got it.

If the choice is between the two, go with the LH1000.

I would choose the peavey 700 there was a clipping issue but that is finally gone.great tone easy controls and it will rumble the house. Hands down best amp I've ever owned!
