Peavey Tour TNT 115 Bass Combo Amp ...

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone on here have a Peavey Tour TNT 115 or tried one? I know to get the 600 watts you have to have an extension cabinet. I'm not sure what size cab would be suitable. I didn't see in the specs how many ohms the combo itself is. Any recommendations on a cab(1x15 or 2x10)...how many ohms should it be and also how many watts it should be able to handle? It would be nice if there was a cab out there similar in dimensions. Thanks for any help.

The 600 watt rating they give is misleading. If you read closely you will see it is 600 watts peak wich would be about 300 watts rms with an 8 ohm extension cab connected. By itself your probably looking at an honest 200 watts rms. Not to say the amp wont be loud but I find it sleazy when amp companies rate there amps and speakers at peak power. I would expect that from behringer but not from peavey.

Yeah its more than misleading on peavey's part. That said its still a damn good amp for the money and its pretty loud. I want a 300 Watt 8 ohm 2x10. I've been looking at mesa boogie ones but there like 100 more than I paid for the peavey. My next amp and probably last is a mesa boogie M-pulse 600 combo that is easily taken apart.

I played an older TNT 115, 200w, at a festival (it was supplied), and it wasn't enough for that big stage and being outdoors with an eight-piece band with a loud drummer. Just sayin...

I'd expect the extension speaker output on the combo to be marked with an ohm rating - and I'd expect that to be 8 ohms. Make sure of this so that you don't get an extension that's the wrong resistance - it needs to match the combo.

Since the combo is a 1x15, my first thought is to get another cab with the same size speaker. Conventional wisdom usually points toward this idea so that the speakers are more likely to work together well. The thing is though, you're probably not going to get one that's all too similar to the cab portion of your combo.

Another part of me is a big fan of 2x10 cabs. If I had a healthy 1x15 combo and needed an extension for extra sound, I'd probably look in that direction.

Check closely on the impedance, most Peavey amps run @ 2 ohms, so it may well be a 4 ohm internal speaker, needing a 4 ohm ext cab. Also, big +1 to using as close to a "matched" ext cab, like another Peavey 115.
