I had one a few years ago ... it's an O.K. cab, it's ported. but the price is on the high side ... offer him $325.00 ...IMHO

It's all about volume control ... if your going to dump 800-1000 watts into it, then it's a poor choice, you'll need to look for another high wattage cabinet

What style music? metal? I still have one of these that I use paired with an Ampeg 8X10. It is a solid cabinet. You would have to be doing something crazy to blow it. These used to sell for about $900.00 brand new. If it's in very good shape then it's not a bad deal at all. Make sure the wheels are OK, these are vital to hauling this beast around. And of course the speakers and crossover.

300 to 400 is a good price. If you look hard enough you can find an ampeg 810 for that. I liked the one I played out of in a metal band's practice space.

In my opinion you should be ok with the peavey. The ported design is good for the down tuned stuff.

I recommend it, I used to own a Peavey 810 - the one with the carpet.

Also I really like the GK head and Peavey cab pairing. I haven't used my GK with that cab but I have used it with a Peavey 410 and it sounded very good - better than the Mesa cab I was using at the time.
