I am think about getting a peavey vb-2. what is a good cab to go with it. How is the avatar b410? and the ampeg 410hlf? from people who have owned them, which is better to get?

It's a preference, your ears are the judge. My ears would most likely want a 215.

It works good with an ampeg 410 SVT HLF, but if you can get a Bergantino NV610 the VB2 with that cab is a really awesome good rig, I have one and love it when I can use it.

It's a good head and will likely pair well with a good cab. I use mine to power a Genz Benz Uber 212 and that combination makes me very happy. Any one of the Berg NV series cabinets would also probably work very well.

Between the two you listed, I would go with the Avatar. It will weigh less and probably cost less, plus I don't particularly care for the 410 HLF. By virtue of the resonance control (damping for the low feq.) you can make the VB-2 sound nice with a sealed cab or with a ported cab.

As with most things bass-related: try it out with whatever you can get your hands on and let your ears be the judge.

the VB-2 is a monster amp.
I heard it once with peavey's 215 tour and it was simply amazing! punchy and LOUD!
