Peavey vb-2, lost volume now makes no sound...whats up?

I was playing my vb-2 this morning, it slowly started to get quiet then made no sound at all. I turned it on standby and tried changing the bass batteries thinking they were dead. Turned it back on no sound. Shut it off, unplugged it and let it sit for awhile, still nothing. All 6 power tubes were glowing, all the pre tubes and the splitter were glowing too. The other day it sat on standby for a few hours. Would this have anything to do with it?

Hi.

Having a tube amp on standby a few hours doesn't have any drastic impact on anything really.

The HT fuses may have blown, but those are located usually on the PCB. Mine (FAME BVH300) blew 'em on a brown-out.

Unless You're familiar with discharging the capacitors and other safety precautions while working with exposed tube amp guts, the best course of action will be to take the amp to a tech.

Regards
Sam

My VB-2 had that fuse go once. There is also a cap in there that is known to go bad also. My tech replaced the fuse and having seen problems with some of the stock caps he replace all of them. Peavey picked up the tab on all the work.

I guess that would be a good idea. Now time to find an amp tech and a backup head...
