Peavey VB-2/ Loud enough for this?

Sign in to disble this ad
That's my question. However, we play hardcore punk rock at earth-shattering volumes. I've been ok at practice and shows with my SWR 750 and, to some extent, my GK Backline 600 (both cranked up to 11), but will a Peavey VB-2 have the volume I need for, say, an outdoor festival or a larger venue?
I know, generally, we're either miced or DI'd but we really tend to use our amps as personal monitors for hearing on-stage and for, I guess, an aggressive feel.
It's seems almost impossible to judge an amp's volume in a music store when trying to compare it to a live situation.
Thanks guys, any advice/opinions are greatly appreciated by a BIG fan of TalkBass.
Rick

ps. I've also posted this in "Live Sound" 'cuz I wasn't sure what category it falls under.

It'll get loud enough, but it will be fairly overdriven at that volume.

Mine was a great sounding amp, it could do clean OR earsplitting -- not both.

IMO for an outdoor festival and larger no it won't. 200W will only take you so far. The biggie is what speakers are you intending on using?

Yes, +1 on it depends on what cabs you're using. But 200 watts ain't much for an outdoor festival.

+1...

Playing outside at hardcore rock volumes, 200 watts for bass aren't going to go far.
At "earth- shattering" levels 200 watts into a 810 will get you by if a distorted tone is what you're going for.
