Peavy 2x15 B15 bass cab.

I found one of these used on craigslist. The guy is asking 25 bucks OVER the amount for one thats in mint condition. It has the name plate removed and the serial number worn off. It's also a tad beaten. Would $100 be too low of an offer? Considering thats more in my budget and the cab isn't in the best condition from others i've seen?

Vintadge Peavy Bass Cabinet 2/15's

I don't think so. Most of these cabinets are built from particle board - a negative for me. Condition and type of speakers would be a bigger factor for me than condition of tolex and badge.

Peavey made multiple versions of 215 cabs; some better than others. Depth and porting methods vary. Hopefully, others who are more familiar will comment here.

well i found out its a B15 and he said he'd go 100 on it. Its very bassey and thumpy and i know the guy (To my suprise). He upgraded to a newer 4x10 cab for his band. For a 100 dollar cabinet i might as well try it out.

100 bucks is a very nice price and that may be one of the older ones made out of plywood and slot ports which are very nice.
I have one of those older ones loaded with 15" Black Shadow (Mesa/EV) speakers and it rocks.

Would my GK 1x15 make a good extension for bigger shows? And does anyone know the handeling of this cab? I'm using a 200 watt head so i dont think i'd overpower it at all but i wanna be safe.

If so, that would increase it's value, IMO.

That'd be a crapshoot. Different speaker, different phase response...

Depends on what the speakers are... stock was OEM Eminence or Black Widow. The BWs had a higher thermal rating, but not much more excursion, at least not in that era. You should be OK with 200w, assuming you don't get stupid with bass boost and volume.

I've got one of these with jbl 2226's in it. It is indestructible. It is loud low and very reliable. The picture on the craigslist looks like it has scorpion series speakers in it. They sound big and full but they can be overheated with 200 watts if driven hard. I blew my original speakers with a 200 watt ampeg.

Those aren't scorpions. My bet would be Eminence or CTS, based on a quick photo enhancement. Also looks like it may have the center slot port, which would be a plus.
