Hearing damage will result if you consistently go over that. And the smaller the room, the more the sound deteriorates as you turn the volume up due to reflections off the surfaces of the room.

| | | | I had this problem once. My band shared a garage with our drummers brothers other band, and because my cab/head was heavy and I had no car I just left it there. After resetting my eq a dozen times I started removing the fuse. They would just replace it and use my amp anyway. So I took my head unit to my uncle who is a certified electrician and he installed a big inline glass fuse on the power cord. When I left I took the inline fuse with me. It worked good. Except that apparently the other bands bassist got a little spiteful about it and stole all my knobs and cords.

I just wanted to share what I finally did to solve this problem. As my hardcase for the SVT was so heavy and I had to put it over and down the cabinet all the time, finally I decided to do some modifications on my d2f covers. That is the result:
I can open the cover without having to take down the amp (oair of zippers).
With this small steel cable + padlock I try to avoid other people to touch my amp
Rear window to plug in the speaker cable.
Final:

Or, if it has a detachable power cable, you could just take that home with you and put it with your bass. |

And 2nd, absolutely no way ever would I let anyone use my gear when I wasn't around, unless they were using something that they had my express permission to use. Other people can bring their own gear to beat on. Get your own friggin stuff. If you don't have what you need, then sit on the sidelines until you do. I'd need to trust someone an awful lot to let them use my gear OTHER than helping a band out in a fix for a gig.

| | ALMOST done screwing with my gear...almost..... | | Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Philly Area | | | Years ago I used to have this problem. We got around it by locking all of our cables in a strongbox when we weren't there. Not the most secure solution, but we were stupid kids and it worked well enough at the time.
These days we share a room with one other band. We're all honest responsible adults and all respect each other's gear. The situation has worked well for a few years now. In fact we've each helped each other out multiple times when someone's amp was being sketchy and we text the other band's guitarist to see if it's cool to use his rig, etc...It's all about respect. The strangest thing is that we actually hooked up with this band on Craiglist of all places (usually CRAWLING with sketchy people) and it's been great with them for almost 3 years now!
That's the way this SHOULD work. I get that you can't afford to pay for the room on your own, neither can we, but the key is to be SUPER picky about who you share with!
No matter WHAT you do to secure your gear, jerks are jerks and will find a way to mess with your stuff. Honestly, if I felt like I needed to lock my stuff up when I left, then I would find another band to share a room with!!!

I'd go NUKKIN FUTS if I thought this were happening, which is why I would NEVER share a room with another band. I can just see taking afuse, and having some idiot in the other band bring the wrong one in and blow the whole thing up. Jeez.

If the other bassist and I were buddies, no problem.
Most bands I know of that have a regular rehearsal studio share it, because the cost is just too much otherwise. |

Dan K. | Not entirely necessary. Just remove the Ampeg logos and put on Peavey logos instead. That should be enough to deter anybody.
Just kidding, Peavey has made and continues to make great stuff---I use a Peavey head at our jam space. Not mine, but I treat it nice. (buy it dinner once in a while) I'm too lazy to bring my full-on rig every practice. Yes the tone isn't as good as my own rig, but it's good enough for a practice. Hopefully the covers and locks the OP installed will do the trick. |

As you can see I don't feel comfortable there, 4 bands are too many people going in and out (IMO). I would spend a little bit of extra money in a place just for us, or sharing only with 1 band max. But my band mates can't spend more money, they like the place 'cause the live near the place, etc. At that point I had to lock my gig. I hope nobody has to deal with that, at least my lock-covers experience may inspire others if necessary.
