Phase Cancellation Concern

You guys think I'm gonna get phase cancellation with this and then it won't be loud enough?

I'm worried I won't be heard.

In which state?

Look at all those mixed drivers...
I'd honestly be surprised if the soundman can even hear you. And with all of those different tones colliding and destroying the mix...
Dude, just get a good DI. You seem to like Ampeg, so the VT Bass might be a great fit for you. And your soundman will really appreciate it.

MSUsousaphone 01-06-2013 11:04 PM

Is there any Ampeg in there? If so, worry more about your tone sounding like poop. Jajajajaja.

HA HA! Nice troll. Not a BAD troll, just funny. However, I do see a Sunn Coliseum 880 there? I used to own one of those. Very cool head. Wider than the back of a camel's as*, though.

Get that little, dinky Peavey out of there and you should be fine. Little amps like that are the cause of all of the World's problems. :hiding:

JimmyM 01-07-2013 02:56 AM

I think you need to worry more about gig cancellation.

:D

Janky-A** Rigs Of Doom thread rendered instantly redundant.

Downunderwonder 01-07-2013 03:39 AM

Even doom requires some level of fidelity. That thing is a wall of kidney crushing mud, so long as the cabs are phased on some fundamentals ok and you stand in the epicentre. I'd volunteer to test it out just for the giggle factor.

toobalicious 01-08-2013 07:56 AM

lol... i would still like to play through it.... just once.

jbybj 01-08-2013 11:15 AM

Just put all the cabs on their backs, pointing skyward, you'll be fine!

I simply cannot agree with this post or condone the advice. Doing so could well instigate a tornado!!!

:D

Rooster009 01-08-2013 11:46 AM

As long as you stack them vertically you should be ok. :)

will33 01-08-2013 12:30 PM

Is that an old Carvin W-bin? My drummee has a pair of those....pretty stout to say the least.

Also, on the far right, is that a Peavey RBS-1, or some other cab with offset drivers?

Since it is impractical to go vertical, you are on the right track with your horseshoe crossfiring array.:p

Rooster009 01-08-2013 12:47 PM

That little peavey on the upper far left really should be moved closer to center if your going for the fearful effect. Just sayin :)

the only way to go

lol, great photo

HolmeBass 01-08-2013 12:54 PM

I think you are going to get phase cancellation, and it just might be enough to save your life. If all of that fired in phase, it would definitely kill you, crushing your head like a rotten tomato.

Thanks for the laugh! Firing all that up should be lots of fun.

mixed drivers don't necessarily cancel the sound provided they're in phase and receiving the same frequency group, (in that case they're usually additive) however lugging around a rig of that size will definitely 'destroy' your back ...this photo kind of reminds me of the used section in 'Daddys junky music' -a northeast music chain that recently went out of business. Anyway have a great day and take care
