I played through this rig last night at a gig. It was HUGE sounding and allowed the notes to really cut through, and fill the entire (outside) stage.
Evidently we were only running one channel on the amp, because the owner said he could easily fry the 810 Cab, at full power. I had plenty of oomph with the dial at about 4'oclock.
I've yet to test drive my Genz Benz Streamliner900 and Uber410 on a stage like this, but I don't THINK I'll be able to get the same kind of "oomph" that I was getting out of this GK setup. I'm afraid I'm going to miss the days of having the power of my Ampeg 810/SVT Classic, but I'll never miss having to lift this kind of gear. All things equal (WEIGHT), the sound I was getting out of this GK setup is more my style, than the Ampeg was.
I'm sure there are many of you who know this GK setup intimately, and also know my GB setup, so I'm curious...how important is the Furman Power Conditioner to this rig, and would that be something to think about using with my GB setup (I don't really know what exactly the power conditioner does...)? Other than the power conditioner question, are there any other components that people have added to their Genz Benz system (or similar) to make the sound even "better"?
