Once I get enough road miles on them I'll definitely post a more detailed review. For now, I can say that the reviews and posts on here are really good and I learned a lot from reading through them. Thanks everyone who has posted so far!

I actually set out at one time to purchase those cabs as an alternate to the 8T-16B, as my existing combo is overkill for most venues. I would be up for a temporary swap if you are close to Knoxville and interested

I just want some volume type info.

I was after a small amp i could use mainly for practice that sounded decent, so far blown away with Phil Jones gear. |

I played with just the M-500 and 6T at another show and, although I didn't hear it well even though it was cranked, the monitors made up for that and I heard from a bass player in the crowd that he could hear a bit out of the 6T. I chose the 6T/9B combo for versatility and mobility - I can carry the 9B easily enough at 80lbs, but the 16B is getting too heavy at 130lbs (e.g. stairs) and is harder to fit in cars. I'll probably eventually get a second 9B and a 6T/9B/9B setup should be almost all that I'd ever need. One M-500 could even handle four 9Bs without sweating and get 700W RMS and 2700W max. Overall, I expect the M-500/6T/9B (450W RMS, 1500W max) should work for almost any venue I play in, especially with stage monitors.
Rollerberg, I'd definitely be up for trading cabs for a bit if you were closer to Toronto.

Delighted to find this thread. I have a Phil Jones Flightcase BG-150 and can add my testimonial to all the others here. Mr Jones makes an amazing light weight amp that is a tone monster and matches wonderfully with my Musicman Bongo 4HH. I’ve been playing in an acoustic trio (with 2 guitars, no drummer) for the last few years doing small café type gigs and my Flightcase has been the source of conversation at almost every show.
As much as I have enjoyed the trio, I have missed playing with a drummer and have started playing with a roots-rock type band. Here is the problem. My beloved Flightcase is not cutting it – between 2 wailing electric guitars, keys and a pounding drummer, I am simply not loud enough. So right now I am playing through an old Peavy TNT combo. It loud, but tonally challenged (at least to my ears). So now I am looking for something that can work in both bands.
I know I can get a PB300 powered cab to boost my flightcase, but I have stumbled across a sweet deal on a Mesa Boogie Walkabout head and another for a Phil Jones neo-power 6-B. Together I can get them for less than it will cost me for a new PB 300. That said, I have compatibility concerns…
The 6B is rated 300 watts at 6 ohms. The WA head is 165 watts at 8 ohms, 300 at 4 ohms. Can anyone tell me if there are any issues with this and will it be loud enough?
Forgive me if this is a foolish question , these technical things always puzzle me. I just know what I like... |

| | Supporting Member | | | | | Would you guys mind giving me an idea on the price range of a used, in great shape, 6t cab and a 9b cab? Either separate or as a package. My understanding is that the 6t would have about the same output as a 112. Am I even close? Thanks in advance guys. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2012 Location: Toronto, ON | | | A 6T is roughly equivalent to a 1x12. The PJB website has all their user manuals available for download in PDF and lists all the conventional equivalent speaker sizes for all their Piranha cabs (and other cabs too, I assume).
I don't see much PJB stuff for sale - most people who make the investment keep their gear, I think. Some folks might be wanting to trade up and sell their smaller stuff, but most people are fairly dispersed across the country. Where I got my deals was looking for dealers with floor models or overstocked product. Some do a clearance sale once a year. This way, you get very lightly used or even new cabs and amps for a decent discount. If you're not in a rush, call up some dealers and ask if/when they have a clearance sale and just wait.
Good luck!

I think the WA head would be a great fit with the 6B. I use a Hartke LH500 with my 6B and it provides a nice touch of old school to the 6Bs amazing depth and clarity. My setup can get pretty loud but remember it's still basically the equivalent of a single 12. You are not going to rule the world with it. I've been toying with the idea of replacing the 6B with a 8B just for a little more oomph.
