I have a Phil Jones Bass Buddy headphone preamp that I'm very pleased with. I'm considering getting a compact combo from them (Cub, Briefcase, Flightcase), just for solo practice, but ...
Will any PJB compact combo fit with a full drum kit in 3-piece rehearsals? Guitar is through a Twin Reverb. Drummer isn't bonzo but he doesn't own any brushes either. http://www.philjonesbass.com/pjbdire...c2st6684046nh0
I'm also considering a Mesa Walkabout. Thanks.

I traded up from the Brief Case to the Flight Case, and then traded up from the Flight Case to the Phil Jones D-200 amp & 6B Cab. I gig with the D-200 & the 6B, Excellent Rig. I wanted to get away from having to gig with a back wall / corner situation, as not always possible. If I had to choose between the Flight Case & Brief Case, I would choose the Flight case, as the top mounted speakers are great for hearing your self in the mix. Tried the Super Flight Case overnight - it's very powerful, gigable without question, the only reason for going for the 6B cab and amp, was the back wall corner situation. They all have exellent DI, in my case, Bass is not allowed into the PA, if you have the choice, any of the above and you have a rig for a life time. Acoustic Guitar is amazing through them too if you have a reverb pedal.

The ceilings are low and there is a lot of wood n the venue which helps.
The guitarist is using a Mesa studio 22 and the drummers have been using full kits.
The SOUND is perfect. but I do have to be carefull not to over push the amp at times. but I'm learning that those are situations where I would otherwise probably be too loud.
The Ultimate rig would be a Suitcase with the additional 4b which I plan to get soon, but I'm keeping the briefcase no matter what. its worth its weight in gold.
The Cub probably wouldn't cut it on a gig. it's really a practice/recording tool.
my 2 cens

How do you like the 6B cab? I am seriously considering getting one.

I do usually use it with one of my other rigs, but it also works fine hooked up to any 8 ohm extension cab. The main thing I've found is it sounds best on the floor and close to a wall. It is the best amp for cutting through the mix, and my band loves it 'cause they can hear me so well. |

I'm also considering a Mesa Walkabout. Thanks. | I take my PJB Briefcase everywhere and it is full challenge to a drumkit, especially if positioned on the floor with it's back to a wall or, even better, in a corner.
I did gigs with bands consisisting of drums, two guitars, keys, multiple vocals through PA in rooms up to about 120 m2 and held out easily.
A very nice feature of the Briefcase is the on board DI, allowing you to link to PA systems. On larger stages I use it as my personal monitor.
As far as I know it's the only AC and DC driven bass amp on the market. I constructed an extra battery pack enabling me to play in the streets for hours on end.
And transport is soooo easy...
