Pick up a second 210 cab for SVT Micro or sell it and get a Portaflex?

I recently picked up a used SVT Micro VR and an SVT210AV cabinet for $280. Sounds great at home but I really don't think it can cut it when I'm jamming with friends with no PA.

So my question is, do I just pick up another SVT210AV cab and call it a day, or should I sell it and make a few $ since I could easily sell it for a little more than I paid and get a PF500 Portaflex with the 210 cabinet, and down the line pick up a Portaflex 15 cab to go with it?

Others have said the PF amps are pretty indistinguishable from the SVT Micro, while others swear they can hear a difference between the two, with the SVT being MOSFET. Jamming wth friends is loud, heavy indie rock, but at home it's everything from old school country, to reggae to rock and old motown stuff. I'm basically looking for a set up that will do it all, has the Ampeg sound, but not break the bank.

I'd add a second STV210AV. 200 watts into a vertically stacked 410 should be pretty stinkin' loud. If it's not enough then I'd replace the Micro VR with a PF500.

That's another option for sure that I didn't think about as far as running the PF500 with the two 210 cabs. I also thought about getting a used 410 cab to use by itself, but rated at 8 ohms it would be less efficient than two of the 210AV cabs together at 4 ohms, and have the versatility of using one or two cabs, and they are super light and easy to move around.

a 15 wouldn't "go with" the 2x10 as well as it would another 15.

anyway i suspect a 500w pf500 in its 15 cab would win over the tiny sealed SVT 2x10 and its 200w amp.

a second 15 under the first one would definitely win! (as would a second 2x10 PF under the first 2x10 PF, i'm sure).

+1

I've recently been using a Micro VR short stack (one 210 cab) for home and rehearsals (not going into the PA). Although it sounds great, I've doubted how well it would handle gigs so I ordered a second SVT210AV cab (new, scratch-and-dent). It's supposed to be here next Monday, in time for our next rehearsal. First gig I'll be able to use it at is on February 9th. I plan to use the cabs in the vertically-stacked arrangement, too. Really looking forward to hearing what difference it makes over the single cab setup.

definitely report back with your findings!

the upright player in one of my bands uses the little SVT and one 2x10, and it just ain't enough.

Beware of clipping issues with the Micro VR and two 210AV cabs. There was a problem with the amp paired with two cabs that is supposed to be fixed, but it severely limited the output. I have this issue and because of it, there is no benefit to adding a second cab. Not saying don't do it, but just be aware you might have a problem with this setup. A search might turn up some of these discussions.

Depends on the band. The Micro hooked up to a 210 and 115 weren't loud enough for my band, but we're real loud.
