Picking a GK cab to go with my GK800RBm suggestions?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am debating a Neo 2x12 cab, any reason i should NOT go with this and my 800Rb together? I think it would be a sweet combo , maybe add another 2x12 in the future. What do you think? another GK cab you would give preference to over this?

My 800RB sounds good with any cab. I like it with a Goliath III, but have used one with an Ampeg 8x10 as well.

I really want an 8x10 ampeg but in my current place there is no way I can leave on there , or transport one on my car , i wish.

I may get the one 4x10 GK MBX for now and add on another in the future , in fact I just saw how cheap they are , think i'll order one .

Thanks

My main rig is an 800rb with an avatar neo212 and I love it. But then again that head is great with any cab I've ever had!! The only cab I didn't like with it was a cheap ampeg 115 cab, but that was prob due to no tweeter and I like to have that little top end sizzle

You can get for real cheap 410 sbx or 410 sbx plus. Those cabs got the sound and power while are not expensive.Buy 8 ohm version so later on you can ad another 8 ohm cab to your rig.

I just ordered a 410 GK MBX, its 8oms. I am thinking since i got such a good deal (40% off) , i should probably just suck it up and buy another one as well. However I have not got my GK 800rb and I am not sure 2 410 8ohms cabs would work with it , or am I wrong would two of these cabs work with an 800rb?http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gallien-...95-i1518261.gc

Sorry for the questions I am still learning about amps, I am getting it slowly.

EDIT i think i answered my won question , i can buy 2 of these 8 ohms cabs and run them noth at the same time but if i run inly one cab i need to plug into the 100 watt input, i think i got this. SO i will buy 2 of these.

You can run 2 8 ohm cabs of any type from the 300 watt "low" amp and still drive a third 8 ohm cab from the 100 watt "high" amp at the same time. Either in full range to both amps or in biamp mode. Or run one cab from the 300 watt and one from the 100 watt.

Ok thanks for that , i bought 2 of the 8 ohms GK cabs. I plan on running one from the 100 watt and one from the 300 watt. I may add a 1x15 to my stack when i have more money

No problem there, just be aware you wiil wind up with about the same output as running both 8 ohm cabs on the 300 watt (unless you want to biamp or attach one cab to your drummer ).
The 300 watt amp at 8 ohms puts out about 200 watts, 300 at 4 ohms. The 100 watt amp is 8 ohm only (unless you have one or two 16 ohm cabs around?).

Yeah i figured that I just wanted to try a 1x15 in the mix to see what kind of tone it adds to the equation, maybe a little more bottom end. I will probably just stick with the 2 410's for now.

Two 410's will be killer! The 800RB does love 15s, at its peak mine ran two 215s and a custom vert. 410 8 ohm in biamp. Outdoor shows were so sweet......

That sounds sweet! I am pretty stoked I am 20 years old and been saving awhile for this , always been a big GK fan but never had the cash to swing for one.

Well I got my 2 cabs today.

I decided I like running 2 8ohm cabs from the 300 watt section, it sounds better to me. The sound is great but I do think I need some more bottom end so when I find a 1x15 8ohm GK cab at a good price that will be added running out of the 100 watt section.

What a stack that will be.

Crappy cell phone picture

used 800rb 268$ , 2 MBX cabs 15.99$ Each total=587.93$ for a rig worth about 1500$

Why stick to GK cabs? I've never liked how their cabs sounded. I have quite liked their old heads, however...

Don't waste your money on another cheap cab, especially a 1x15. You'll never hear it over the 8 10's you've got now- the 10's will blow it away.
Be aware that the 800RB isn't meant to do super low bass.

Honestly the ONLY reason I got these GK cabs were guitar center had that huge mess up and you could combine codes, well I only had 330$ to my name and I was almost going to just buy 1 acoustic cab, however GK was included in this sale and I got both cabs for 319.98$ which was about all I can afford.

If I had money I was going to buy a Used ampeg 8x10, however these GK cabs I can use while saving up extra cash and I can sell these at the price I paid no problem.

Long story short it all came down to money

If you say so , honestly i would not know I dont know much about amps. But I do know that the volume level on 2 with both 8 ohm cabs going into the 300 watt section knocks stuff of top of my dresser, so I am happy

I am going to stick with my original plan of getting an Ampeg 8x10 when i have the cash an older MIA one.
