Pignose B100V Mod help please

Sign in to disble this ad
First off i should mention i don't have much experience with tube amps, this is my first so if something seems like a stupid question to anyone i'm sorry. I find the pignose to be fairly clean sounding and i'm looking to get more grind out of it without having to crank it... and i'm wondering if it would be possible to take it to a tech and add a gain knob so i can dial in some grind at lower volumes. Any help is appreciated.

So you like pre-amp tube grind ?

There's a lot of tricks that can be done, but I bet you want it to be not detrimental to the amp or parts, and reversible should it not turn out like what you want.
Does the amp have an effects send/return? you could wire it into this

That would be ideal but i'm opposed to anything. and yes it does have an effects send and return

In the effects send/return you can wire a pot in a box so you can crank the pre-amp and the power amp part will not be driven to full volume.
Or plug in "attenuator cable" aka "padded cable" aka "dubbing cable" - this will do the same but usually at a calibrated db level.

and/or wire in one of these

Once you figure out what you like you can commit to hardware changes.
