PJB issues?

Hi guys,

I wonder if anybody ever had any quality issues with Phil Jones Bass products? I've been using PJB Briefcase wihch I bought new 2 years ago and was quite happy with tone and wattage it gives but after about 18 months I started to visit service workshop quite regularly((( Could you share your experience with PJB use? Hope I'm the only "lucky" guy but still want to hear your oppinion. Thanks

I own one.

There were issues. One of the transistors was cooking; I had it replaced.

The AC power connection is a problem. I once sent it into repair because it made strange noises. These were caused by a flat battery, because it had not been able to reload since there was no power. It's a pity there are no seperate lights for AC and DC power to let you know what the amp is working on.

But most of the time it works fine and it's a gorgeous little amp. I take it out on the street and I constructed an extra battery pack to keep it alive for 4 hours.

On stage, I use the preamp + compressor in combination with my Markbas 151 combo. Astounding sound.

I've had exatly the same failure with power connection as you described, strange noises too, + EQ connections gone. It all was fixed in a workshop but now I'm hesitating on if it's a good idea to sell it and buy Markbass Minimark. I like the PJB amp too but a bit warried about its reliability after all that and how long will it last till next "surprise"...
