fender bassman tv duo. i was simply amazed.

round warmth defined in a convenient slick package. honestly, in my mind it has no faults whatsoever.

anyone else played one?

I played an original 4x10 combo. It sounded great and was nice and punchy but I was afraid I'd blow the speakers if I turned up any. It works for a studio amp but forget about it live. Leave them for the guitards. They love them more anyway.

no no man, this is different. i know what youre saying about the old ones but this is a modern amp design specifically for bass. 350 watt solidstate power with a tube pre.

When The Black Crowes played Letterman not too long ago, they had one on stage. Who knows whether that's just part of an endorsement situation or if he actually played through the thing, but I've heard that they're really good. If that's the case, it'll be a solid competitor for the Ampeg B200R, which is another great little combo kicks butt. I'm curious to check one out.

I played the version with the 15" driver and wasn't feeling it - maybe it was the speaker, but I couldn't dial in any clarity. I do own a Fender TB-600 head that is awesome, though. Maybe I just needed to put more time in with it at Sam Ash.

Probably sounds crazy but I wish Fender would do a modern combo with silverface cosmetics. I like the blond but it's a little too vintage looking. Silverface is more industrial looking, and it has a little bit of an Ampeg vibe.

anybody played one of these yet in a band setting? im looking to replace a GK mb115 with this. the gk at band setting gets thin and strained sounding, and is sterile. doesnt have that round warmth like the fender does...i wonder how much the fender retains that sound in a band setting.

ya, you're right...that IS crazy

i have only played the tv 15, but i felt the exact same way you did, biff. sounds very much like a bassman through a 115. i didn't buy it, but if i needed a combo, it would be on my short list.

btw, i am of the belief that if it sounds good in the store with some dope in the next room playing metal riffs on the marshall half stack they're never going to buy, it will sound absolutely great onstage.

i think youre right jimmy. everything always sounds louder and fuller on a stage than it does in a store full of other amps next to it, etc...
