Playing Harp on my Bass Amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Folks,

I know I can use my bass amp for regular ol' 6 string guitar without hurting the amp...but what about other instruments? I'd like to run my harmonica through it but don't want to do anything that might damage the amp.

Thanks,

- netgeist

Unless you're rockin' a sub-contra harp, you'll be fine.

Probably Lee Oskars. I play them almost exlusively and since you can buy them in just about any key, you'd be able to work with minor scales pretty easily to get that darker sound.

Well, as dark as harmonica can go.

Get the Hohner Hot Metal - for Metal, naturally!

I suppose that right about now I should post my disclaimer concerning mEtaL music:::

They are about as toneless and dull as I find mEtaL anyway - IMVHO!

They can also be thrown at unruly audience members (if they can be singled out of a crowd of lesser-unruly mEtaL attendees) and since they are cheap ($6.95) they aren't a great financial loss if you have to throw a few dozen at them.

Here come da' flames! Here come da' flames!

I've tried my harps through all sorts of amps and really - I find that the really cheap Fender BP series are pretty good!

They have a lot of tube-like qualities when they clip and they have enough power to stand alone most of the time with very small Wattage.

Add a little delay stomp to them and they are top-notch!

Can't imagine any everyday instrument that wouldn't work through a bass amp.
