Question Playing the House of Blues in Anaheim! What kind of Backline will they have?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys.
This sounds like a blast! My 80's band is playing the House Of Blues in Downtown Disney next Saturday, and my guitar player just sent out an email to us asking about what kind of backline we'd like.

Does anyone have experience with using someone else's backline? I've always just used my own stuff. I was thinking it'll need to be pretty traditional stuff (Ampeg, Eden, or GK). What do I ask for?

My current rig is a BBE Tube preamp into a Crown XTi1000, driving an Eden D212XLT and an Eden D210XST, one cab per channel.

I figure an Ampeg SVT type head and a standard 410 or 810 would be fine. What do you think?

I've used Ampeg in the past but only use GK now. I am considering switching to Eden but the closest Eden dealer is 100 miles from my house. If you cannot use your own gear, I would suggest GK but that's just my opinion.

An Ampeg SVT and matching 8x10 probably won't leave you wanting more!

Often times the house either owns a standard backline or has a semi-limited number of choices with their rental company. If you are OK with an SVT, one could make a case that it is the industry rental standard.
Also, might be smartest if you're booking agent emailed the stage manager to make it cool and easy.

the hob in orlando used to only have an swr sm-900 and two goliath 410's, but they added an svt/810 after getting a lot of requests for it. no idea what they have, but expect your choices to be pretty limited.

That's what I was thinking.
Thanks for all your input.

If this is your first time.. use whatever they have and/or get easy.

Everytime I've been there it's been tightly run.

Might be I'm missing something, but why not call them and ask?

I still have Ty's CD from back in the day, I believe he was handing them out in the city of Brea if not mistaken, small world.

I just listened to one of your opening acts - Jayme Dee. Wow. She's going somewhere.

We're playing Saturday, March 5th.
Thanks for the info on the amps. I appreciate it.
Hope to see some of you next weekend. I'll be playing with Neon Nation. It'll be my First time in such a well-known venue. I'm so excited!

When we play overseas, backline is always supplied per our tech rider. I use an unusual bass amp setup (2 Marshall Super Bass heads, Marshall 4x12 top cab and Marshall 2x15 bottom cab), so asking for something like my rig is a waste of time. I just go with the tried and true Ampeg SVT/8x10 setup. So, I just show up and plug in.

Cheers!

I played there in 2005, and the backline was an SVT and an 810.

If it's anything like any other House of Blues, you're welcome to bring your own backline as well. I usually only use theirs if the travel arrangements make it impossible to bring my own.
