Question Playing Music/Guitar through a bass amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
When I'm playing along a song or anything like that, I usually use my bass amp to play the song and my bass (since it has 2 input slots).

I know playing a bass through a guitar amp can be damaging, so I was wondering if playing music through a bass amp would be of any harm to the amp itself.

The music kinda sounds weird and very "bass-ey" because of the amp setting i have for my bass but since it's the only way of actually playing music loud enough to play along with clarity, I prefer this method rather than playing it through my laptop speakers.

Also, with this in mind I was wondering, what would happen if I play a guitar through my bass amp? Would it harm the amp?

Thanks in advance.

Amp no, speakers yes.

But as long as you aren't bass heavy, or try to use it at levels over bedroom practice, you will be fine.

What kind of amp is it?

May not sound that great but it shouldn't hurt anything technically although the same lowend rules apply if you're playing a bassy or loud cd through it just like your bass, if it farts out, back off.

Shouldn't hurt playing a guitar through a bass amp. Also it shouldn't hurt to play music through your amp while practicing. A lot of bass amps have input jacks for that.

Your bass amp will no longer be content with single notes, and in the pocket bass lines. It will crave chords and want endless shredding leads.
