Playoffs: BG500 vs MB212

Has anyone had the opportunity to play these two amps side by side?

If so, I'm very interested in what your impression of these two fine rigs was, from sound to build to features.

Wow, no response. My guess is that your only hope here is Tom Bowlus. I could tell you yet again how much I love my MB212....

I haven't actually been able to directly A/B them, though I do have a BG500 (1x15) in for review, and I have an MB500 plus Neo212-II, which is in the same general ballpark as the MB212. The MB500 is more big and beefy (both in physical weight and in tone), and the GK is going to be more cutting and aggressively articulate. You can get the two to sound fairly close to each other, with a decent amount of tweaking. The feature sets are fairly different, though.

I do hope to do an "official" (but likely somewhat abbreviated - compared to typcial BGM standards) review of the BG500, shortly!

Those are two fine amps, for sure.

Thanks guys. I imagine its a difficult situation to find a store with both of them on the floor for such a comparo.

For me it was down to the BG or the MB. Chose the BG but I'm still looking over my shoulder at the MB.

Story: small town=very limited choice=no playing amps I wanted=go with user reviews and sound samples online (GK's site should have the customer resources that TCE does, video description and sound samples)=BG500-210.

price diff=MB 8 bucks cheaper because of BG's delivery charge. 8^)

Its a dang great amp, although I haven't been able to jam/gig with it yet (just back to playing), but man it has tone, boom, throat, flexibility, precision and way too much volume for the house. !
