Please Help! Just bought an Ampeg SVT810E
I recently just bought an Ampeg SVT810E and it sounds fantastic. The only thing is that the bottom corner is somewhat broken (not too bad, I'll try to post a picture soon).
Anyways I am really considering on building another bass cab but how hard is it? If I basically make everything the same dimensions and transfer all the 'insides' of the SVT to the hollow one i build, wouldn't it all technically be the same thing? Can't I ust technically build an exact replica, and connect all the wires back together?
I'm really new to all this and I've done as much research as I could but I am still lost.
It should be able to be repaired, possibly from the inside.
Post some pics when you can.
Sure, if you build another wooden sealed box it will sound pretty much the same. It's simple physics. Just be sure it's sealed good. Most models of SVT cabs are made as actually 4 1-10 cabs all stuck together. And they are so sealed that you can push on any speaker on the left, and the one beside it on the right will push out from the air pressure inside.
If you are not good at working with wood, do not try this. It will only make you mad.
I had been wanting to create another cab anyways for awhile now. I had wanted to see if i could find some wood that was a bit lighter and then stain it to create something similar to the Emperor bass cabs and then just transfer all the wiring, handle, etc.
